We have found Amanda Hemingway and Stephanie Brighton very professional with an extensive pool of knowledge. They provide individual and tailored physiotherapy treatment, from pleasure to highly strung competition horses, with integrity at the heart of the service provided and an excellent attention to detail. This is supplemented by an extensive array of skills from hand on manipulation, exercise prescription and the ability to deal with complex cases.

In a few individual cases where other professionals given up Amanda and Steph made a huge effort to liaise with a multidisciplinary team such as vets, farriers, homeopaths, podiatrist and many more to ensure the best outcome for the horses to insure all horses are in top form.

Multi-award winning agility dog handler

Amanda first started treating my dogs in 2003 when I was a member of the GB agility team. Since then she has continued to provide advice and guidance for my dogs and also clients’ dogs who I train at Nedlo Agility. I feel that it is important to identify early signs of gait change which if not addressed can lead to injuries and poor performance. Amanda liaises with me regarding bringing dogs back into work and incorporating rehabilitation programmes, which can be done at Nedlo where I have the correct surfaces and equipment.

Amanda helped to return my dog Perdita to her bouncy self after a back injury 5 years ago. We had taken her to the vet who prescribed painkillers, which were effective, but his next sentence was “You are insured aren’t you? With breeds like these “Lurchers” there is a high incidence of surgery after injury and we want to x-ray her.” My immediate reply was that it seems crazy to not follow the same path with an animal that you would with a human being? Surely painkillers and then Physiotherapy should be the first option and only then and if there was no improvement, would you then sedate an animal for an x-ray? Finally, but only after a discussion with Amanda, he agreed to Physiotherapy. Perdy had 2 sessions and was back to her old self again! Much better for the dog and the insurance company!

Since then Amanda has seen Perdy for routine check-ups and at 14 years old she is still playing and running around. Perdy loves seeing Amanda and without her I’m sure she would not be the dog she still is today. Amanda is amazing with Perdy, she melts under her touch and is never stressed when being treated although the treat tin gets a lot of attention! I cannot recommend Amanda enough, and as a Pilates teacher myself really see how the exercises she prescribes for Perdy have helped enormously in her re-hab as well.

Amanda Hemingway has exceptional skills as an animal physiotherapist. Her observation and assessment of gait abnormalities is excellent and the manual therapies she is able to provide have resulted in successful outcomes for many of my canine and feline orthopaedic patients. We have worked together to accurately diagnose, treat and rehabilitate patients over many years and I would not use any other physiotherapist for my patients. Good communication both with the client and other members of the clinical team as the animals progress is something that Amanda does extremely well.
